The Nobel Prize 2011 Winner: Thomas Sargent and Christopher Sims: The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences


The Nobel Prize is a Sweden award for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and for peace. It was established by Alfred Nobel and administered by the Noble Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank established The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prize.

Prizes are awarded every year in five categories since 1901. Each prize consists of a medal, personal diploma and a cash award. In 2011, each prize was worth 1.45 million US $. A prize may not be shared among more than three people.The Nobel Prize amount for 2011 is set at Swedish kronor (SEK) 10 million per full Nobel Prize.
