The Nobel Peace Prize 2011 has been announced on Friday, 7 October 2011 by Jagland, Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, in three equal parts between two Liberian and one Yemeni woman who have campaigned for peace and democracy in Liberia and Yemen.
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Liberian peace activist Leymah Gbowee and Tawakkul Karman of Yemen has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2011 jointly "for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women's rights to full participation in peace-building work".The Nobel Peace Prize Winners 2011:
