24 year old Melanie George-Sharpe has been named as the grand winner of Miss Oneness Trinidad & Tobago 2011 beauty contest at the Cara Suite ballroom on 20th August, 2011.


Melanie George will represent her country in Miss Earth 2011 at Manila, Philippines on 3rd December 2011. It was originally scheduled to be held at the Impact, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand. However the pageant organizers decided to move the pageant back to the Philippines due to the Massive flooding in Thailand. Under the theme Mother Earth, the pageant featured the contestants representing various scenic environmental aspects of T&T.

Sharpe also won the prize for Miss Amity and shared a Model Scholarship with Miss Nariva, Giselle Ramsamooj, who also copped the Miss Photogenic and Miss Intelligence prizes.

Cliffuero Elizabeth Robinson of La Horquetta and Trotman of Waterloo were runner-up contestants.

When asked what is your environmental advocacy, Melanie replied that my environmental advocacy is harsher laws and penalties for persons engaging in illegal environmental activities with sustained enforcement of such laws. Further, as Miss EARTH T&T, I would like to be a role model as an environmental activist and lead by the example - following on the footsteps of those in authority in my country and channel such in sensitizing my people further to accept and make their "carbon footprint"
